"Sho-In" - to be hidden in a smile or concealed by laughter

The Sho-in Dojo is a private club in Crystal Lake, IL dedicated to studying martial arts and self-defense methods. Traditional martial arts are taught, although with emphasis placed on realistic application. Classes are set up as small group training sessions with the students' needs in mind.

The Sho-In Dojo is a satellite to the Shorisha Dojo of Elgin, IL headed by Shidoshi Vic Siedleski (www.shorisha.com).

What is Taught

The primary style taught is Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu, as headed by Grandmaster Hatsumi Masaaki of Noda, Japan. This art also goes by the names of Ninpo Taijutsu and Bujinkan Ninjutsu.  The Bujinkan incorporates 9 traditional Japanese schools of combat, taught collectively as Budo Taijutsu.

In addition, the Sho-In Dojo also investigates principles and techniques from other styles, including Boxing, Judo, BJJ and contemporary MMA.
