"Sho-In" - Hidden by Laughter
The Sho-in Dojo is a private club in Crystal Lake, IL headed by Sensei Sam Hersee, dedicated to studying the martial arts of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu, which incorporates the Japanese combat arts of the Samurai and Ninja. Traditional martial arts are taught with an emphasis on realistic application for the defense of yourself and those around you. Classes are set up as small group training sessions with the students' needs in mind.
The Sho-In Dojo is located in Crystal Lake off Randall road, and is easily accessible to the greater McHenry County area, as well as the surrounding areas of Dekalb County, Kane County and far west Cook County. This dojo is a satellite to the Shorisha Dojo of Elgin, IL headed by Shidoshi Vic Siedleski (www.shorisha.com).

What is Taught
The style taught is Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu, as headed by Grandmaster Hatsumi Masaaki of Noda, Japan. The Bujinkan incorporates several traditional Japanese schools of combat, taught collectively as Budo Taijutsu. Budo Taijutsu utilizes natural and relaxed movements that exploit an opponents weaknesses in order to prevail.
In addition, the Sho-In Dojo also investigates principles from other contemporary styles in order to provide students with a well-rounded perspective of the contemporary martial arts community.

Happy New Years! May another stong year of training lie ahead!
As for much belated news:
- It seems this year's theme will be the Katana, so stay tuned... Let's see what curve-balls Soke throws at us
- Congrats to all the new green belts, and to Will on his 10th kyu test
- We now have a book/dvd library checkout system in place, so feel free to check stuff out
- We are getting closer to having the funds to upgrade our mats, so new flooring is on the horizon

Firstly, a belated congratulations to Glenn on his 9th kyu way back in June, and to Joe on his 9th as well!
We will be planning some events for the future, including a training day down in Elgin, a day at the shooting range, and another temeshigiri event (before summer's out)
